The former Trump supporter explained her confusion when she was fired over what was allegedly described as ‘poor performance’, despite having received ‘the highest rating you can get’ on a performance review conducted less than 21 days earlier.

When asked if she regretted her Trump vote, Piggott said: “Yes I do. To cut the knees of the working class Americans just doesn’t make sense to me. I expected more from President Donald Trump.”

She also revealed she’s received ‘death threats’ since voicing her change of heart, with other West Virginia voters choosing to remain anonymous as they shared their thoughts to avoid the same fate.

Another Trump voter, who left the Bureau of Fiscal Service amid fears of losing her health insurance if she was fired, said she was all for ‘balancing budget’, but said she could not support the ‘way that it’s been done’.

“It’s just not right,” she said.

Speaking to Reuters, Piggot said that nobody she’d spoken to ‘understood the devastation that having this administration in office would do to our lives’, adding: “As much as I think that President Trump is doing wonderful things for the country in some regards, I don’t understand this at all.”

The voters’ comments come as The New York Times reported that at least 49,110 federal employees had been cut from their jobs amid Trump’s crackdown, though many of these workers have since been temporarily reinstated under court orders.

The report released on March 28 said the reductions could affect at least 12 percent of the 2.4 million civilian federal workers, though the cuts don’t look set to stop any time soon as federal agencies are being directed to reduce numbers even further.
