Political Expert Expects JD Vance To Be In Power If Trump Goes Rogue

Donald Trump certainly has gotten a lot of attention since he took office for his second term. The focus is not entirely on him, however, because the vice president also shares the spotlight.

Donald Trump is in his second term as president as of January 2025. He and one of his allies, Elon Musk seem to constantly be raising the bar and with Trump’s multiple executive orders, things have gotten sticky at times.

Some of the executive orders that have really made the news include the tariffs being placed on Mexico and Canada and the Gulf of Mexico being renamed as the Gulf of America.

There is even talking about cutting off aid to Ukraine temporarily and deporting hundreds of migrants from Venezuela to El Salvador.

Bolton says that if he continues on this path, the relationship the president shares with his allies in the Oval Office could be impacted. He feels that many will be looking to Vance to step up to the plate and replace Trump if necessary.

He spoke about why this may be the case, saying: “Should Trump become more of an unpredictable liability – tanking the economy with tariffs, say, or pushing America into an armed confrontation with an ally – then Republicans, including cabinet members, may decide that his comparatively squeaky-clean family-oriented VP is a better bet to keep them in power.”

One thing that remains to be seen is if Vance is a better option, considering that he can change allegiances when experts feel that the nation is getting closer to authoritarianism.

One lead political scientist, Stephan Lindbergh wrote: “The USA now seems to be heading toward a transition away from democracy under President Trump. In my view, the reverberations of this are and will be enormous across the world.”

Someone else who weighed in on the subject was Tara Setmayer, former Republican communications director. “We are approaching Defcon 1 for our democracy and a lot of people in the media and the opposition leadership don’t seem to be communicating that to the American people. That is the biggest danger of the moment we’re in now: the normalization of it.”

Trump has made some unpredictable moves since taking office. This includes pausing all grants and loans until mid-February to ensure that they meet with the administration’s agenda. He created the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

Trump also declared that America’s sovereignty was under attack and got some funding to shore up the border with Mexico by declaring a national emergency. Suspending birthright citizenship was also a surprising move.

Some people were upset after he declared that there were only two sexes, male and female. He then signed a directive that kept TikTok from being banned in the United States for 75 days.

It will be interesting to see what happens next.
